Creation of the huge Mazandaran Wood & Paper Industries Facility in the recent past, existence of other factories for the production of pressed wooden board and wood fiber and other timber processing workshops have pushed up daily demand for wood.

The main source of the country's lumbering is the very 1.9 hectares of north forests, a great percentage of which is either devastated or suffer from semi degenerated conditions. Under these circumstances there seems to be no alternative but to search for other sources of log  production, which might replace the indigenous plant species of the north and somehow reduce pressure of these natural woodlands.

Mazandaran Wood & Paper Industries has come to believe that woody plant cultivation is one of the most important ways of meeting its needs for primary materials and for that reason has established a specialized facility in 1997 for that purpose. During the last five years it has managed,  with popular  contribution and assistance,   

Mazandaran Wood & Paper Industries, in playing its role as one of the forest management plan authority, in tandem with efforts to supply the required primary materials for one of the largest paper processing facilities in Iran and the Middle East and in line with its forest regeneration objectives, has embarked on a road building drive since 1985.
