Environment department in Mazandaran Wood & Paper Industries is subsidiary to the management of the quality assurance control according to the organizational chart.

This department undertakes the responsibility of observing the environmental aspects such as air, water and soil in various parts of the complex.

The activities of this department is summarized as follow :

     a) Establishing of instructions and environmental criteria in different parts of the complex.

     b) Performing the environmental inspections in different production areas.

     c) Performing the aforesaid activities on forest section.

     d) And the same for administrative departments such as residential complex.

     e) Limited research activities in environmental issue.

The environmental personnel during their daily visit of different areas of the mill consider environmental aspects and in case of observing any unpermissible emission of pollution they would report and demand the involved people to remove the problem.

The inspection programme of this department is as follows :

     - Inspecting and taking samples from discharge of each production areas and testing on them.

     - Measurements and analysis of gas emission in different stacks.

     - The inspection and sampling of different points of Tajan river and performing the required test.

     - Performing the required test on the mill wells for making sure that it is not polluted.

     - Inspecting of chemical warehouses and consideration of their keeping conditions.

     - Inspection and test of effluent treatment system of residential complex.

     - Connection with IEPO, universities and attending the related conferences.

     - Performing the limited research for consideration of influences of treated effluent on animals and plants such as toxic test on fish and watering some trees with treated effluent.

     - Inspection of different parts of company's forest and consideration of environmental aspects such as supervision of seeds collection, young trees , preparation of plantation , preparation of land, weeding , planting the seeds, watering , Fertilizing the land and selecting the right saplings and picking , transporting , planting and taking out the animals , toll and road construction and selecting the wood for cutting , cutting taking out the cutting , loading and etc.

Furthermore taking into consideration that MWPI is endeavouring for establishment of quality and environmental management system , this department is playing effective role in this respect.
